Winter Maintenance is basically any jobs that can be done no matter what the weather is like outside. If you are like me you probably didn’t get everything done over the last few busy months that you should have. Some of these things like staining the deck & painting the exterior of your house can wait till the warmer weather but other things like door seals that no longer keep out the drafts are best done now during winter.
This is the time of the year when most people seem to go into ‘hibernation’ due to the winter cold-snap we are currently experiencing, so it’s a good idea to plan ahead and have all the little ‘niggling’ jobs around the house completed by Spring. Here are some examples of a winter maintenance job-list you may require throughout your home:
Add a fresh coat of paint where the paint is starting to look tired
Oil door hinges
Clean the exhaust fan and hood over the stove
Clean the exhaust fans in the bathrooms
Clean the windows
Check for air leaks under doors and around windows
Update your kitchen. A fresh coat of paint, new door handles can look a charm
Update your bathroom. New paint and accessories can make a big difference without doing a total new bathroom
Patch holes on your walls throughout the house
Paint doors and replace door handles
Tidy your yard and clear gutters
Repair damaged skirting boards
Swap paintings around the house to create a new feel
Add some new prints or paintings around the home to freshen it up
Restore water damaged walls and paint
Install cost-effective storage solutions in your garage
Re-seal mold build up areas around the kitchen and bathroom
Re-grout bathroom- tiled areas that are dull or have mold issues
Update light globes around your home to LED for high savings on your electricity bill
This list is by no-means extensive and if you have any areas around your home which you would like to discuss, please do not hesitate to contact me.
